the oak street mill…

Leave a comment »the old cotton mill built in 1922 now holds 10,000 square feet of goodness. i could walk up & down the original wooden floors for hours… & i often do, thinking about what times were like almost 90 years ago. i’ve caught myself just staring at the floors & forgetting the task at hand! it’s a treasure hunt but you’re sure to find something you can’t leave without. there are a few great antique spots around town and i’ll be sure to share them all but for now, here are two of my all time favorite pieces, both were found at the mill…
{the first is a 12 pane antique window… it was actually torn out of an old building on trade street uptown, which makes it even more special. it’s really difficult to find windows this size with the glass still intact… it’s hangs in our dark purple dining room. i’m still on the hunt for weathered shutters to hang on both sides, but i love it!}
{the 2nd is this old door… i had been on the search for one for quite a while when i found it buried behind a pile of things. it’s the perfect shade of washed out blue & still has the iron door hardware. it’s in our living room & i love that it creates “a secret place” hiding somewhere behind it.}
it’s saturday and i’m headed up there for a visit right now! hope i find something fun to show you… happy hunting.
