cupcakes for samaritan’s feet…
Posted: April 9, 2011 Filed under: business., cupcakes., personal. 1 Comment »i get asked to donate cake &/or cupcakes a lot! but recently, i was asked about donating cupcakes for Samaritan’s Feet. they were hosting a benefit event here in Charlotte… they needed 250 cupcakes for their Caribbean themed dinner party. 250?!?! that’s a lot of cupcakes… and it’s the most i’ve ever baked at once. but hey, there’s a first time for everything right?
i was excited to offer my God-given gift to help some sweet kiddies get some new shoes. the more research i did on the organization, the more excited i got… did you know that the founder, Emmanuel “Manny” Ohonme lives right here in the Queen City with his wife and 4 kids?! did you know that it’s {not just a non-profit, nor just a humanitarian aid organization – but a community of more than 70,000 volunteers who have joined together to make a difference in the lives of children in need in every corner of the world. from a dream to the reality of nearly 3,000,000 impoverished children in over 40 nations being served by having their feet washed, receiving a new pair of shoes, and hearing a message of hope.
to play off the Caribbean themed event, i decided on 3 really fun flavors: lemon cake dipped in raw sugar, white and chocolate cake dipped in sweet coconut and introducing: key lime cake, perfectly dipped in graham cracker crumbs, just like key lime pie. {thank you cinzia lubrano… i love when my friends have amazing cupcake insight.} they turned out great, and hopefully they will be enjoyed by many tonight as the vision of Samaritan’s Feet is shared here in our city…
if you’re interested {which you should be} you can: read stories. stay connected. get involved. donate. and even volunteer. with Samaritan’s Feet… be curious! hg {and thank you olivia, for all of your help and loveliness!}
