happy anniversary: chad & kim…
Posted: June 24, 2011 Filed under: business., cakes., personal., wedding... 2 Comments »i have been excited about this blog post for quite some time… not only are chad and kim dear friends of ours, but:
- kim was one of two very special roomates i’ve had in my life… i loved living with her.
- chad and gil have a long friendship rooted in music…
- i not only had the honor of designing their wedding cake, but i was a bridesmaid as well…
- and i remember the day kim and chad invited some other friends over to our house after a soccer match… i was building cake boards on the living room floor when a guy named gil gatch waltzed in and changed my life forever… {i owe you two sweeties for being a huge part of gil and i getting connected, thank ya!!}
kim is a great writer {you can check out her blog here} and her classic, sophisticated style was the fresh breath of her wedding. she was inspired by black and white, subtle lace and lovliness with a modern spin… it was one of the most gorgeous weddings i’ve ever been a part of. the entire day was perfect. it was so HOT… {i remember praying that the cake wasn’t melting during the delivery} and perfect. it’s so exciting to support two amazing friends as they become one…
i was inspired by this photo on martha stewart’s wedding website and decided to incorporate these lace-like flowers into the cake…
chad and kim’s cake was to serving 300+ and they decided to have each tier a completely different flavor! {this is a no-cake-leftover guarantee}
- chocolate cake with raspberry filling
- white cake with strawberry and cream cheese filling
- chocolate chip cake with cannoli filling
- almond cake with chocolate ganache and rasperry filling
- espresso cake with chocolate ganache and cream cheese filling
i will say it’s a challenge being the wedding cake designer and a bridesmaid at the same time!! finishing the cake, getting ready, being there to help get the bride ready and do photographs, and get the cake delivered to the reception site just in time to get to the church and walk down the aisle! whew, what a rush… and SO worth the fun!
the wedding was like i said, GORGEOUS and unforgettable. enjoy the photos of their spectacular day…
HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY CHAD AND KIM! wishing you all the best in the years to come! hg. be curious….
