what it’s all about…

welcome to the looking glass… im heather. the quirky, only child, now married, obsessed with anything antique, cake designer from charlotte, north carolina. people often ask how i ended up running my own bakery… at 15 when i took a job at a local cake shop i NEVER dreamed that it would shape my future obsession or honestly, that i’d be any good at it. i somehow had the skill, the dreams, the attention to detail & the heart but deep down i just knew it was what i was made to do. God created me to do it! among other things of course…

i’m married to an incredibly gorgeous & talented man named Gil, we own a mini-rex bunny named Henry, we LOVE our city & our local church & well, life is good! i’m a stylist full time, i’m inspired by way TOO many things & am always up to something: like re-modeling our quaintly adorable townhouse, shopping for antiques, making my own clothes {did i mention i’m 6 feet tall?} cooking mostly vegetarian, reading about natural birth, health and wellness, watching endless episodes of FRIENDS {we own all 10 seasons on DVD} eating trader joes powerberries, searching for designer in thrift stores, drinking starbucks with my husband, or attempting to master crotcheting with my grandmother.

my idea is that everyone sees something different when they gaze into a “looking glass” and the theme that inspires my cakes will also inspire this blog. it’s about many things… cakes, fashion, food, weddings, style, health, jesus, antiques, trinkets & also me, but each time you stop by i can guarantee you’ll see something different.

hopefully keeping you curiouser and curiouser, just like alice.

After reading this, I’m convinced we’re long lost twins. Well, except I’m a whole foot short than you. Other than that? WAY too many similarities. I swear it’s a Charlotte thing. :)
