Posted: May 28, 2011 Filed under: business., cupcakes., party. 2 Comments »lily is turning 5! last year she had a topsy-turvy cake at her pool party… but this year it’s all about being a princess! not only were real princesses visiting her party but the girls were getting all dressed up, and having real tea with these adorable mini cupcakes!!
red velvet and vanilla with lots of pearls, gold and silver dragaees and LOTS of edible glitter… just perfect for little ladies.

olivia’s graduation…

Leave a comment »olivia. this girl is just the sweetest and one of the most stylish ladies i know… we’ve gotten to hang out a lot lately as she interned with me for her senior exit project over the last few months. we did manage to do some vintage shopping in between all the cupcakes and still have an antique hunting date to set! but alas, her senior year is officially over and now she’s college bound!
she had gorgeous pink hues, candles and peonies in mind for her graduation party… and this girl wanted red velvet with cream cheese filling all the way. the result of her stylish request was a simple, but breathtaking 3 tiered cake, each tier boasting a different shade of the prettiest pink. pale grey ribbon lined the edges and a fresh peony added the perfect whimsical touch… it turned out gorgeous just like her and encompassed her personality like perfection.
i was excited to deliver the cake, hug the graduate and swing by the party with gil… it was a gorgeous day to celebrate.

Leave a comment »so… my argentine sister, Pamela is having a baby girl. i am SO excited. she & her husband Andrew already have a sweet little boy, Josiah & they are 2 of my favorite people on the planet. needless to say, i was really excited to make her baby shower cake & attend the party! i knew that a few people were getting together & surprising her with this potterybarn nursery bedding. SO stinkin’ cute huh? there were also going to be birdhouses as party decor… the whole thing was so fun! everyone ooo’d & aahh’d over all the pink & the cake was delish. chocolate + more chocolate = a happy Pamela.
i wanted the cake to match her nursery bedding… & the edible pearls were just too perfect. ta da!

deux birthdays to celebrate…

Leave a comment »announcement! the looking glass… bakery now offers COCONUT CREAM CHEESE! this past weekend i had a client tell me there were two birthdays to celebrate. {grandpa & daughter} his dad loves chocolate & coconut, so i thought… well, coconut cream cheese sounds delicious… i used my orignal cream cheese filling recipe & added fresh coconut an a tiny dash of extract. um, yum. piled between 3 layers of fresh chocolate cake, & iced in chocolate buttercream {which is my all time favorite by the way…} how could i go wrong?
the final product was super cute… a festive candle cake to celebrate not one, but deux birthdays.

people often ask me to match their confections to party supplies like plates, napkins, invitations etc. it can get a little tricky sometimes… i like to make sure that in the end the cake pulls together the theme of the party but that it also reflects the style, whimsiness, & well, “look” that is the looking glass… bakery. so, this is how it turned out. {& this one hit my “favorites” list… i love the way the blue & red came together with those cute checkered flags…} HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY DYLAN!
